Previous Projects

Past projects from momentum

The following are examples of some of our previous work.

Reaching Out

A national conference on the theme of inclusion in the EU Youth in Action and Lifelong Learning Programmes, organised by Momentum in 2010 on behalf of the British Council and Ecorys. Read the conference report.

Sencity

We provided training and team building workshops to a fantastic team of deaf and hearing young people, to help them prepare for organising the amazing Sencity music event in London, October 2011.

Transition Impossible

This project gave 50 year 5 and 6 pupils an opportunity to explore transition, through a five day film making process. The challenge was to explore 5 myths about moving to secondary school, and then find out the actual truth by interviewing students and teachers. View the results.

Youth in Acton Evaluation

We conducted an interim evaluation of the EU Youth in Action Programme in the UK, on behalf of the National Agency. Read our report (large file, 9mb download).

Youth for Rural Inclusion

A youth exchange involving 20 young people from four countries, focusing on the issues facing young people in rural areas across Europe. The project was managed by one of the participants from our leadership programme, with support from Momentum.

Leadership in Action

A youth initiative funded by the EU Youth in Acton Programme, developed as a follow-on project by two participants from our 2010 leadership course with our support. The project developed ideas for the positive use of social media as a gateway to volunteering.

In My Shoes

12 media students from Rawmarsh CLC spent two weeks on work experience with members of our team, developed a story as part of their study of film making. This gave them an NCFE Level 2 qualification. The project was also used as a tool to work with their local MP to attract more resources for young people into the area. View the resulting film.

Blue Sky

The brainchild of our CEO Andrew Hadley, the Blue Sky youth network began life in 2001 and has grown into one of the largest active youth networks in South East Europe. Activities have included six major international summer schools and numerous other international youth projects and exchanges.

Cre8ive 8

This innovative and successful youth film project was designed and developed by our Creative Director Paul Oxborough from 2004 to 2007. It has now become an independent organisation dedicated to youth training and development, giving young people a voice through film and media.

Youth, Sport, Action!

A series of eight international projects during 2007, aiming to promote understanding among young people through sport and culture. Altogether 130 young people from 11 countries took part. Activities included mutual exchange visits and two large scale multilateral residential events.

Ethiopian Millennium Film Project

Our team designed and delivered a training and development programme to enable 20 young Ethiopians to make a series of short films celebrating their Millennium which took place in 2007. The aim was to empower the young people and give them a voice within and beyond their own country.

Big Challenge

In 2007 Paul Oxborough was commissioned to document a 9 month social education / business skills project involving 22 schools, following the experiences of hundreds of young entrepreneurs as they set up small businesses as part of a competition to raise money for charity, and supporting the winning team on their journey to Harvard Business School.

Fit and Green

This project began in 2008, with funding from the EU Youth in Action Programme. The project involved a series of youth exchanges between partners from the UK and three other countries, aiming to empower young people by promoting access to outdoor and environmental education.
